When It’s Cold Outside

I’ve had a few scary days during my twenty two years as a Realtor.

There was the irate tenant who did not want to move out of my new listing.  When I opened the door to let in a colleague and his clients, the tenant was standing in front of me with a shotgun in my face.

There was the angry estranged wife who started to throw cans of applesauce and cat food at me when I arrived at her soon-to-be-ex house with the termite inspector.  (Now that one would have been a really fun blog subject!)

But nothing has been as scary as sliding down an icy hill toward a huge garage door in my beautiful new Lexus.  When I came home Saturday afternoon, my heart was still pounding, and I wrote “Shovel It”.

Thank you to everyone who sent comments, including the nice folks who thought my posting was scurrilous enough to be beyond the protection of the First Amendment.

We’re supposed to be at the beginning of an unusually cold winter.  We can expect a lot more ice and snow.  I hope the fear of litigation is not the only thing that will get people to pick up the snow shovel.  It’s just a nice thing to do.

Do it for your mail carrier and the folks from FedEx and UPS.

Do it for your neighbor who walks the dog twice a day.

Do it for the sweet old lady who uses the sidewalk in front of your house to get to her bus.

And, if your house is for sale, please do it for the real estate agents and their clients who just might fall head over heels for your house – not in front of it!
