Wacky Holidays!

Every year, on the first Saturday of December, I throw a little party. I invite a mix of friends, relatives and clients (most of whom fall into the first two categories). The week before the big event, I allow myself to become certifiably nuts.

I develop two intense fears. The first is that nobody will come. The second it that I will run out of food. But I was determined to stay sane this year. After all this time, I have it down. Right?

The invitations went out, and RSVPs are coming in. The tree is up and, thanks to some friends who came for dinner over the weekend, is mostly decorated (if not a bit crooked). I’ve planned the menu and I have a well organized day-to-day “to do” list. So will this year be different?

I thought so until I opened up an email last night that I assumed would be an RSVP of some sort. It wasn’t. It was from a friend I had invited who wasn’t sure the party was still on. He hadn’t received his festive invitation that went out long ago. Was it just his, or did I screw up a bunch of them? Is it my messy handwriting? Did stamps fall off? Should I call other invitees to make sure they got theirs?

The queen of time management and perfect parties is once again completely crazy with six days to go.

So to my friends who are reading this and did not get an invitation, it must have gotten lost in the mail. Please come so I can run out of food!
